Hey, I'm Zeljko Gora from Croatia.
I've been doing Agility for more then 30 years now.
It's not just a passion, it's what I do for a living.
Training and competing with my dogs was not enough so I decided to become Agility trainer in 2008.
I've travelled the world to share my passion and my own methods to train dogs and handle them in Agility courses.
My training philosophy is simple: make sure the pups get the basics before diving into sequences or courses
I start sequence training when they hit around 1 year old. But before I start any Agility I focus on building a solid bond.
Living of Agility doesn't mean I have endless of time for my own dogs. It’s actually the opposite.
Between travelling, coaching, and working with other dogs, finding time and energy to train my own dogs is quite rare.
Even when I'm home for a few weeks, I keep it relaxed – 2 to 3 short sessions a week at a maximum.
Sometimes it's just a short session of a single obstacle like the dogwalk orseesaw.
I rarely run full courses with my dogs.
I focus more on sequences and different handling options.
I prefer quality over quantity.
I'm all about refining the skills and my handling.
I am very careful to not overtrain my dogs as I like to keep my dogs in competition life as long as possible.
Less is definitely more for me.
In my training and handling I am putting a lot of effort in verbal commands
I want my dogs to clearly understand my verbals so even if my handling is not the best I can trust them that they will listen to my verbals.
When I walk the course for sure I will put a lot of effort how I will use my body language, but sometimes while running it it doesn’t work as planned so I can be quite confident my verbals will help me.
In nowadays courses you have to be a fast runner, but your dogs also need to be trained well.
All my dogs are fast and I am not able to reach every place I should be so using my verbals helps me a lot.
In my agility journey, I've had 9 amazing dogs, and currently. Here are the dogs who share my life and competing with me in Agility.
